Ralph E. Partelow, Jr. Limited Edition Red, hand-painted, 18th
Century Harpsichord is signed and numbered. This is #3 in a limited run
of we believe was 12 pieces created. It
is meticulously strung with brass wire. The pole allows for showing the art
piece with the lid extended or closed. Beautiful ‘ivory and ebony’ keys, 52
white and 36 black. The warm red paint is exquisitely painted. The outside has a floral and cross hatch design,
while the sides have a delicate Asian scene.
The magic is on the inside of the lid.
The gold background is covered in a mural of an oriental garden. It comes with a complimenting delicate
chair. This is not a music box. This piano
was purchased direct from the artist in June of 1982. This was purchased
for our shop by the original owner; however it was never put up for sale, nor
displayed. Truly a piece for a collector or musician.
Mr. Partelow started making miniature musical instruments in
his school days when carrying two majors, music/piano and theology. It was then
he met John Steinway, who admired his talents and encouraged the young artist.
Partelow has been fortunate in being able to combine these two loves in his
professional life. He has reached miniature collectors all over the globe and
has ministered to parishioners in the East, West, US and Missions in Kenya, Africa. His
work is the definition of prized by collectors.
